What does ABSA mean?

ABSA is The Association of Building Sustainability Assessors. They are definitely not salesmen but rather professionals who assess builders and homeowners with an eco-friendly solution. It is an initiative towards our limitless usage of fuels and wasting of energy sources. This calculation is measured by inputting the design of a house into a software, which shows whether the norms have been violated or not. Thermal calculation can only be done by an Accredited Assessor.

The assessors will certify you with a stamped certificate from ABSA which will be required by the local council to lodge your Development Application and stamp your building plans. If your building cannot qualify for the certification, the assessor would suggest you some environment friendly solutions so that you can overcome the shortfall.

What is BASIX?

BASIX is an initiative from NSW Government that take cares of all new buildings to be planned and built according to the norms. The objective is to achieve a reduction in water and greenhouse gas emissions by a mere rate of 40 percent. This means BASIX is the future call to make sure energy and water are used within a limited boundary. 

Generally, a BASIX certificate consists of a 6 page document for a single house. This certificate comes with a unique number for identification. The document may go up to 20 to 24 pages for a multi-level building. The certificate includes a commitment that certain items will be added to the list of building materials for the construction.
